Mystery & Modern Romances
Georgette Heyer used to work on the plotlines for her mystery stories with her husband, a barrister. Many who love her Regency romances won’t try the mystery novels, but I found a few in charity shops, and found they are very similar in style, and if you’re interested in the 1920s/30s, a great read! Find some background on her crime books.
- A Blunt Instrument

- Death in The Stocks (Merely Murder)
- Detection Unlimited
- Duplicate Death
- Envious Casca
- Footsteps in The Dark
- No Wind of Blame
- Penhallow
- The Unfinished Clue
- They Found Him Dead
- Why Shoot a Butler?
Georgette Heyer also wrote a number of ‘contemporary’ novels, which are believed to give the clearest reflection of what she was like… but she suppressed further copies of them. It’s now possible to get modern copies – but at a price!
