The Digital Debate: YouTube

Really interesting, a great chance to access “soundbites” from politicians, and interestingly, Nick Clegg appears to be leading in so much social media. We need to remember, however, that there are many people who aren’t on social networks, and (stereotypically) it’s the ‘digital generation’ that’s online, and who have a tendency to vote LibDem, whereas older voters, who may not be as present in the digital space, may vote differently. What did you think?!

I agree. Mainstream media barely blinked at this yesterday.

Sadly it wasn’t the great digital engagement tool though – there seems to be an audience of around 150,000 to 200,000 people who are watching this and other videos like the most watched viral video ‘Common People’- probably fewer in reality too. That seems to me quite a limited audience.

Presumably as you say this audience are made up mainly of the ‘digital generation’ though. I think we will see a ‘young people vote for Clegg’ pattern after the results are in.
