Awaiting more details/confirmation of panel make-up, and whether 4th or 6th April
My Session: Social media has become a part of everyday life, including the faith lives of many. It is a space that assumes an observing gaze, and we question what it is about social and digital culture that shapes expectations of what users can or want to do in online spaces. A disciple is one who seeks to learn and live the teachings of Jesus Christ in all aspects of life. Drawing upon Romans 12:1-2, which in The Message translation calls for us to ‘take your everyday, ordinary life’, we reflect upon how we ‘do’ discipleship in ‘a digital age’, including the challenges and opportunities for younger generations for whom the ‘digital environment’ has been a permanent fixture in their lives.
Digiexplorer (not guru), Senior Lecturer in Digital Marketing @ Manchester Metropolitan University. Interested in digital literacy and digital culture in the third sector (especially faith). Author of ‘Raising Children in a Digital Age’, regularly checks hashtag #DigitalParenting.
