CMSLogoBorn in 1799, in the crucible of the campaign to abolish slavery, CMS has always had justice and evangelism at its heart. CMS is a community that has heard God’s call to join in his loving outreach to the world and has rolled up its sleeves to serve others in mission.

Lisa Sabin-Wilson
Publisher: Wiley Publishing
Date: 2009 (2nd Edition)

Lisa Sabin-Wilson has been working with WordPress since 2002, and is the founder of E.WebScapes Design Studio. She has extensive experience of blogging, having built over 1,000 personal and professional blogs, and is a frequent speaker at blogging and social media conferences.

“Blogs are as much a part of life today as the evening newspaper was fifty years ago, and for much the same reason: Inquiring minds want to know. WordPress powers some of the most popular blogs on the Web, and with this guide to help, it can work for you, too. Here’s what WordPress does, how to set it up and use it, and some cool bells and whistles to make your blog stand out.”

I’m particularly interested in using WordPress as a stand-alone CMS for small business sites, and am currently investigating the possibilities.

University College Winchester Portal (2005)

By the end of February 2005, the new University College Winchester (now University of Winchester) portal was planned for ‘go-live’

  • Using a CMS (content management system), I was given responsibility for the section content ‘About Us’, ‘Research’ and ‘Business’.
  • I collected material from sources already available, and, after meetings with appropriate personnel, a structure devised, and new data was requested and re-edited.
  • I also worked on other sections as requested.

I was asked to do the work as a result of working on previous internet projects for the College.
