All social networks were not created equal - that's why there are so many of them (and to be honest, I like spreading my data across a range of sites, rather than too much in just one place) - here's a useful overview of the function/features of some of the biggest ones:

NHS - OPEN FOR COVID - CLOSED FOR EVERYTHING ELSE!? - PLEASE SHARE!

How can someone with stage 4 cancer be more afraid of Coronavirus, rather than the cancer itself? Right now, it’s absolutely possible. The fear is great. It’s crushing. Cancer land couldn’t get any worse, but cue the arrival of Covid-19 and suddenly the shit really hits the fan.

We know that some cancer patients were denied scans, operations and treatments in the first lockdown. We know that cancer research and trials were suspended. Cancer referrals were down by 75% and patients already in the system had no or delayed diagnoses. Any chances of living were cruelly taken away. As a result, we watched people die, some were our friends.

Today, the UK cancer crisis is worse. The backlog continues to grow. Life saving operations are being cancelled up and down the country. Hospitals are literally running out of oxygen. The wards are at full capacity, teeming with COVID-19 cases. Ambulances are queueing up outside A&E departments with patients on board.

Yesterday approximately 1000 people died from Covid related symptoms in the UK. The situation is dire. God only knows how many more will perish over the coming months, from both COVID and cancer. How many more stage 4 cancer patients with COVID will be asked to sign DNRs or will be denied a ventilator, regardless of age or whether they’re stable and thriving. This is what we’ve come to. Patients and clinicians having to make painstaking decisions.

Who is more deserving of a ventilator?

Listen up Boris, Matt and NHS bosses. Don’t give up on us! We have a right to live too. You keep telling us the NHS is open for cancer services. I beg to differ. The NHS is on its knees. You are truly shut to everyone other than Covid patients!

NB. IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS GET DOWN TO YOUR GP/ONCOLOGIST AND DEMAND TO BE SEEN URGENTLY! WE HAVE TO KEEP CANCER SERVICES RUNNING!

*Check out my stories to see just a few of the messages I’ve been receiving over the last couple of days. Heartbreaking! 😭
