Weary Bex - stash of M&S goodies but stir fry and Weary Bex - stash of M&S goodies but stir fry and one yum yum hit the spot.

Today: I had a rash on my (no longer) cleavage, some nodules/lot of pain on right shoulder plus significant lymphedema. Got to see oncologist today - and yes - all this is suspicious - likely skin mets. Now need a biopsy to see if tumour has mutated again, and yet another CT scan. Only on second cycle of Capecitabine and might already have to change treatment. So a big Wednesday wobble.

Have a Secondary BCN and we had a helpful chat - tonight will be duvet, TV - and was able to buy Percy Pigs at hospital so may have those. Hopefully blog it out tomorrow... thanks for messages, though may go off comms til morning ...

Posted @withregram • @tickingoffbreastcancer For Posted @withregram • @tickingoffbreastcancer For some people, an important part of the process when considering breast surgery options, is to read about other people’s experiences and talk to others who’ve been through it.

One of the key things to remember when hearing about other people’s experiences, is that everyone is different. For example, the location, stage and grade of tumours are different, the personal preferences of surgeons are different, the procedures on offer at different hospitals can be different and the objectives/preferences of the patient will be different.

Having said that, there are plenty of places where you can hear about the experiences of other women.

* @breastcancernow have a service where you can talk to someone who has been through surgery. They also publish personal stories on their website. Link in bio for recent account of surgery from Carly.

*Lots of women have set up their own blogs where they write about their experience. Two super helpful articles that will be of interest are:
1. @drbexl blog post on things she wishes she’d know before her mastectomy (link in bio),
2. @emily.jane.jones blog about having a lumpectomy (link in bio)

*The private forums and Facebook groups are also excellent places to look for insight from people who’ve been through surgery (E.g. @ybcn_uk , @mastectomynetwork @flatfriendsuk and Breast Cancer Support U.K. on Facebook). You just need to do a search for mastectomy on Facebook and it brings up loads of closed private groups.

I also know that there are plenty of people on social media who are happy to chat about their experience - don’t hesitate to comment on their posts and start up a conversation.

Does anyone have any favourite groups/blogs that they can recommend for women who are waiting for surgery/undergoing surgery?
