I attended Question Health: The Big C at UCLAN (Burnley) tonight. The panel was hosted by Lauren Mahon (from #YouMeBigC podcast), although Deborah James was sadly unwell (due to cancer treatment), and included a breast surgeon, a Macmillan-focused GP, a palliative care specialist, and a research nurse who had originally been an oncology nurse. Interestingly the entire panel was female…

My attention was brought to the event by fellow members of BRIC (see the public group), and I enjoyed meeting a handful of other members for food beforehand, and sitting together at the event (and asked question 5 of 6 at the event – on the pros/cons of social media in relation to cancer).
Following on from #WorldCancerDay earlier this week, here’s a lovely message from host @iAmLaurenMahon at the end of last night’s “Question Health Event: The Big C”. The event took place @UCLanBurnley in homage to fellow #YouMeBigC presenter and @UCLanAlumni Rachael Bland. https://t.co/MzdYnncMc0

An interesting and enjoyable evening listening to innovations and positive ways forward for educating and supporting people living with cancer. Thanks guys! @UCLanHealth @bowelbabe @iAmLaurenMahon https://t.co/iVVo9oc3zP

On a personal note, I saw the radiotherapy team at the Christie again yesterday. The CORE trial has now closed, but I am instead (once the full body scan I have next Tuesday is complete, and ensures that I’m suitable), guaranteed stereotactic radiotherapy on another programme. Chemotherapy, etc. discussions continue, but I’ve been told I can book my trains for my working trip to Bristol!
